18 lighthouses open to the public on 18 August, World Lighthouse Day

Citizens will be able to visit the lighthouses between 10:00-14:00 and 17:00-20:00

The ability to learn about the contribution of lighthouses to the safety of navigation, to the exploitation of the lighthouse network as a cultural heritage and the contribution of lighthouses to the operation of the network will be made on Sunday 18 August, in the context of World Lighthouse Day.

As was made known by the Hellenic Navy General Staff (HNGS), on that day 18 lighthouses will be open to the public between the hours of 10:00-14:00 and 17:00-20:00.

These are the lighthouses :

– Great Emvolo – Thessaloniki (Access to the tower: YES),

– Akrotiri – Thira (Access to the tower: NO),

– Arkitsa – Fthiotida (Tower access: YES),

– Moudari – Kythera (Tower access: NO),

– Gourouni – Skopelos (Tower access: YES),

– Keri – Zakynthos (Access to the tower: YES),

– Kranai – Gythio (Tower access: YES),

– Melagavi – Loutraki (Tower access: YES),

– Plaka – Lemnos (Tower access: NO),

– Koraka – Paros (Tower access: NO),

– Alexandroupoli – Alexandroupoli (Tower access: NO),

– Taenaro – Laconia (Access to the tower: Only in the surrounding area),

– Kaki Kefali – Chalkida (Access to the tower: YES),

– Vasilina – Evia (Access to the tower: NO),

– Dukato – Lefkada (Access to the tower: YES),

– Katakolon – Ilia (Tower access: YES),
