On the instructions of his Albanian stepfather and his Greek mother, a 16-year-old boy was going to water the hashish plantation they were cultivating in a rural area of the Municipality of Mylopotamos, who was arrested in the act by officers of the Rethymnon Narcotics Squad.
The juvenile hashish cultivator was spotted on Wednesday morning, as he arrived driving a van to the appropriately arranged area, which had been placed under discreet surveillance by the police officers. The 16 cannabis seedlings, three meters tall and at full growth, were uprooted and seized along with the 16-year-old’s vehicle.
This was followed by a raid by police officers of the Mylopotamos Police Department on the family home, where the 50-year-old Albanian stepfather and the 38-year-old Greek mother of the minor were arrested and two more dried hashish trees, a small amount of cannabis, two precision scales and two mobile phones were seized.
All together, they were taken to the prosecutor of the Rethymnon Prosecutor’s Office who charged them with cultivation, possession and trafficking of drugs and neglect of supervision of the minor, who is also accused of violations of the Highway Code as he did not have a driver’s license.
