Athina Linou: She refuses to resign and accuses Kasselakis of acting as an unappointed judge

"I am being asked to accept a non-existent guilt," says Linou about the Prolepsis Institute case—"I was given my seat by 25,000 voters."

Newsroom August 28 07:55

Athina Linou has made it clear in a statement that she will not resign from her position as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament or give up the seat granted to her by over 25,000 voters, in response to statements made by Stefanos Kasselakis.

The MP for Northern Athens also states that she will not accept a non-existent guilt concerning the Prolepsis Institute and questions how the SYRIZA leader could have read the 459 pages of evidence that demonstrate its impeccable management, as she highlights.

Linou accuses Stefanos Kasselakis of participating in the malicious slanders by Mr. Polakis against her, behaving like an unappointed judge, and describes Kasselakis’s demand for her resignation as morally and logically unfounded.

In her detailed statement, she says:

“Dear Mr. Kasselakis,

Today, through your office director, Mr. Kapnisakis, you asked me to resign from my position as a SYRIZA-PS MP, allegedly due to a lack of transparency in my work, and you have already made related public statements. In this way, you are asking me to accept a non-existent guilt. Clearly, this is not possible for me. You must also realize that by doing so, you are acknowledging that you are participating in the malicious slanders of Mr. Polakis against me, behaving as an unappointed judge. It is also puzzling when you managed to read the 459 pages of evidence proving the impeccable management of Prolepsis to make your morally and logically unfounded demand. Therefore, I inform you that I will not resign from the Hellenic Parliament, nor will I give up the seat given to me by over 25,000 voters.”

Earlier, Stefanos Kasselakis commented on the Linou case in an interview with MEGA: “Her explanations have not satisfied me, and my office has requested her resignation and the facilitation of her seat transfer. She has not responded to anything—neither phone calls, nor SMS, nor WhatsApp messages. We are awaiting her response.”

“It is recorded that our request is clear: she must relinquish her seat to the first alternate. Responding to messages, whether by phone or written, is a minimal sign of responsiveness that should be present at this time,” noted Kasselakis in his statements to MEGA. Shortly afterward, the letter of expulsion of the MP from the SYRIZA parliamentary group reached the Parliament.
