Christos Yannaras: The last “goodbye” to the professor and writer

His funeral was held in St. Irene of Aeolos

Relatives and friends are saying their last “goodbye” today to the professor-writer Christos Yannaras, who passed away on August 24, at the age of 89.

The funeral of Christos Yannaras was held from the Holy Church of Agia Irini in Aeolou, followed by his burial at the 1st Cemetery of Athens, with the family, instead of wreaths, asking for the support of the Kythera “Kasimation” Nursing Home.

Christos Yannaras was a fellow of the German scholarship foundation “Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung”

He was an elected member of the Society of Greek Writers, as well as of the International Academy of Humanities (Academie International des Sciences Humaines) (Brussels).

He wrote on social and political current affairs through regular columns in the newspapers, To Vima, previously, for 13 years, and since 1993 he has been a columnist for the newspaper Kathimerini.At the same time, he made television appearances.
