The panic button for at-risk minors and their parents, which was unveiled by the government at the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair, is expected to go live in the coming days. The SafeYOUth App, will soon be uploaded to appstores to be available for download on all mobile phones and tablets.

Through the devices, minors in distress will be able to use the app to activate the “panic button” and alert authorities. From there, with the geolocation feature, they will know exactly where the child in danger is and will be able to intervene.

The app, which is aimed at children aged 12-18, will also be available to parents of children at risk and their wider community (parents, teaching staff, coaches, etc.) and aims to eliminate juvenile delinquency, bullying, incidents of abuse that have been increasing recently, and also aims to address issues related to domestic violence, racism, safe driving and drugs.

The SafeYOUth App will be able to be combined with the five-digit number 10 201 that has been operated by the ELAS for some months now, making it a comprehensive infrastructure to protect minors, prevent assaults and arrest both minors and parents in case of unprovoked attacks on children, who will be able to contact properly trained ELAS officers.
