Konstantinos Drakopoulos passed away, he was the former president of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation from 1996 to 2024 and one of his uncle’s closest collaborators, Stavros Niarchos.
Konstantinos Drakopoulos, according to the Athens German School Alumni Association, graduated in 1943-1944.
Consul of the C.C.D. (C.C.A.T.).
He graduated from the School of Naval Cadets, beginning his involvement with seafaring. He worked in New York-based businesses before joining Niarchos London Ltd. in 1953, taking up the position of Shipping Director.
For nearly 30 years he served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of “Hellenic Shipyards S.A.” He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of “International Shipping Agencies S.A.” for almost twenty years. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of many internationally renowned organizations, such as the Hellenic Association of Business and Industry, the American Bureau of Shipping, the Hellenic Shipowners’ Association, the Bank of Greece, etc.

After his retirement from the position of President of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, he held the position of Advisor.
A resolution on the death of Konstantinos Drakopoulos was also issued by the Manzaros Philharmonic Society.
