Kyriakos Mitsotakis Summons ND MPs to Maximos Mansion in Early October – Confirms Expulsion of Salma

The meeting is likely set for October 1st – ND Ethics Committee convenes at noon, signaling a broader political message aimed at key party figures

Newsroom September 23 07:17

Kyriakos Mitsotakis may be in the US by the end of the week for the UN General Assembly, but at home, the fronts are also open within the ruling party. A few months after the intense meeting of the party’s parliamentary group and the “11” letter on red loans that “raised” a political wave, the prime minister returning from the US will also take initiatives on the internal party field.

He may have made several appointments with members of parliament in his office throughout the last period, according to protothema.gr, but Mitsotakis will undertake a more comprehensive initiative. On October 1, in all likelihood, the prime minister will invite New Democracy MPs who are not ministers to a casual meeting in the Great Hall of the Great Hall of Maximou. With no formal tables or formalism, Mitsotakis wants to discuss with the blue party’s K.O. members and record any concerns.

A few days later, on October 4, the “blue” birthday for the 50th anniversary of the founding of the New Democracy party will be celebrated on the ruling party’s historic Rigillis Street, in front of the offices that housed the party for 35 years. For this event, there is already a large organizational mobilization, so that as many people as possible who were in the ranks of the Southwestern Democratic Party will be present, while the day will be more like a street party than a classic party event.

Caratorialization

In the meantime, however, today will seal the deletion of Marios Salmas from the ND Parliamentary Group, after his…transatlantic impeachment by Mr Mitsotakis. A decision that is not limited to the MP’s recent behavior, but constitutes a broader political message within the party with specific recipients. And it is expected to be followed by his expulsion from ND as well. “It is a lawless process,” party sources said.

Salmas, as protothema.gr has reported, has received two phone calls from the chairman of the Ethics Committee of the ND parliamentary group and will be present at the meeting today at 12:00 in Parliament. The Committee is composed of the President Yannis Tragakis, the Secretary of the Parliamentary Group Stavros Kalafatis, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Thanasis Bouras and the MPs Thanasis Davakis and Theodoros Karaoglou.

By … diabolical coincidence, Mr. Salmas, along with Mr. Davakis and Mr. Karaoglou, had co-signed the “11” question, which was the occasion for the TV appearances that set the “topiaries on fire”. Mr. Salmas, it is recalled, denounced photographic competitions by the Ministry of Culture in favor of a specific company for the canteens of archaeological sites and had even submitted a relevant question that was answered by the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni in July.

Immediately afterward, Salmas warned that he would make new complaints to the TV cameras. From the Maximou Mansion, however, it is said that the glass in relation to the old “blue” MP had long been cracked and he showed it on every occasion, railing against government and ministerial choices. He had, moreover, confronted Mr Mitsotakis at the party’s recent C.O.

New questions

The Salma front may be closed today, but it remains to be seen whether there will be new “episodes” in the red loan saga. Some of the “11” MPs are considering asking Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis a new topical question on the issue, expecting a new, additional regulation from the ministry. Also on the table are other questions on current affairs and the so-called “social agenda.”
