An acid attack occurred on Monday against a 14-year-old girl in London – outside the school she attends – and a 16-year-old who was with her, which left the girl and a school worker seriously injured.

The girl remains in hospital with potentially “life-changing” injuries to her health and appearance.

Metropolitan Police say they believe the two teenagers were approached this afternoon outside the school building by a man “who threw a substance at them before fleeing towards Harrow Road”. The man was described as a tall and thin black man, wearing dark clothing, who was driving an electronic scooter.
He added that the man’s face was covered “possibly by a mask”.

The 16-year-old remains in hospital with less serious injuries than the girl, while the 27-year-old worker has been discharged.

Two police officers were also taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service as a precautionary measure after reporting feeling unwell, but have since returned home.

Metropolitan Police officers said it was acid, but tests are continuing to find the exact composition of the substance.
