The certainty that in at least six regions of Greece, candidates derived from the “wider democratic space” will go to the second round, was expressed by PASOK members, after the publication of exit polls. Partners of the party chairman Mr. Evangelos Venizelos characteristically stated that “the democratic party is here”.

The political message from the initial results, according to Mr. Venizelos’ colleagues, is that “the candidates of the democratic party have stood their ground”. He also was of the opinion that SYRIZA has “hit its ceiling”. They also stated that the message that citizens sent was concentrated in one phrase: “we have no strength left”.

The people at PASOK HQ added that “our anxiety is to respond and restore injustices and to create new jobs”.
