Olga Kefalogianni – Minos Matsas: Accusations of a third party and domestic abuse

Mutual restraining orders appear to be the beginning of a tough legal battle between the Minister and the composer, who are accusing each other of the breakdown of their marriage

Newsroom October 19 03:34

In the film The War of the Roses, Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner play a couple with two children whose divorce turns into a conflict within their home, which they have divided in two.

In the ongoing domestic dispute between the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and her now ex-husband Minos Matsas, such a conflict is not expected, but there is a warlike atmosphere with accusations of third parties, abusive behavior, and restraining orders that are set to be reviewed in the coming days, marking the start of a fierce legal battle.

On Friday, Ms. Kefalogianni tearfully told reporters that she is in court only for her children, seeking temporary custody through the restraining orders she filed.

“Please! Listen, I’m only here for my children, please. Please respect my privacy and my family, I have two three-year-old children and I am here only for them,” the Minister of Tourism said with tears.

According to reports, Ms. Kefalogianni wants Minos Matsas to leave their marital home in Psychiko, giving her full possession of it along with the furnishings. She also accuses him of being completely indifferent and emotionally distant from her and their two children.

Additionally, she claims that he forced her to extend her pregnancy so that the children would be born on September 6, his birthday—something he strongly denies.

What Minos Matsas Claims

Minos Matsas appeared calm in Evelpidon courts, making no statements. According to his own restraining orders, his version of the divorce is entirely different.

He claims the main reason for the breakup with the minister is not a third party, as she suggests, but her inability to control her anger and violent tendencies.

He alleges that he was subjected to both in April 2020, when the entire country was under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, claiming that he was physically attacked by Ms. Kefalogianni. He reportedly has video evidence and witnesses to support his claims and states that she apologized, explaining that she could not control her jealousy.

Later that year, he wrote a song titled Olga, I’m Afraid of You, Olga, I Love You, and he denies the existence of the third party that Ms. Kefalogianni cited as the reason for their marriage’s dissolution.

According to Matsas, their relationship became unbearable over the last year, with continuous attacks from Ms. Kefalogianni. He claims that whenever he tried to calm things down, she would always demand a divorce.

The composer states in his restraining orders that he attempted to find a solution before Ms. Kefalogianni’s trip to Japan, but she refused, and a week later, she issued the famous statement that opened Pandora’s box.
