Eurostat: In 2012 a total 818,000 of foreign nationals received European citizenship

16.200 foreign nationals received Greek citizenship

According to Eurostat data released today, a total 818,000 of foreign nationals received  European citizenship.

The majority of EU citizenships was  granted to nationals from Morocco (8.2%), Turkey (6.2%), Ecuador (4.3%) and India (4%).

In Greece, during 2012, the total amount of foreign nationals that received citizenship reached the 16,200, with a staggering 84.2% being Albanians, 1.8%  people from Egypt, 1.2% Syrians and  1.1% Ukrainians.

Great Britain is in the lead of  granting the most citizenships 193,900 which is  23.7% of the total European amount.

Germany ranks second with 114,600 people which translates to 14%, followed by France with 96,100 – 11.7%, Spain with 94,100 people-11.5%, Italy with 65,400 people – 8% and Sweden with 50,200 people equal to 6.1%.
