The fugitive leader of the Taliban Movement of Pakistan (TPP) released a video message in which he asks the government to implement Islamic law (sharia) in the country.
Maulana Fazlullah, in his eight-minute message, addressed his followers in the training center located in an unknown mountainous region.
“The goal of our struggle is to enforce Allah’s law on earth and to his faithful”, said Fazlullah. “We accept the power and commands of Allah, the Pakistani army, the secret services and the government should also accept these orders” he says.
“I ask all suicide bombers to be ready to fight against the weapons, tanks and camps of the enemy, of the forces of evil”, added Fazlullah in the video.
The latter became the head of the Pakistani Taliban in 2013 succeeding his predecessor who was killed in an unmanned U.S. Drone strike.
The message of the Pakistani Taliban leader comes amid reports of internal conflict between the rebels and appears to be an effort to gain support as he faces off with another leader from South Waziristan.
