Rome, Paris, London. This is now the order of popular destinations for Greeks, as London has lost its lead due to Brexit. Departure data shows that visits to Rome are trending upwards, in the range of 40-50%. Italy’s capital city seems very close to us with just an hour and a half flight time and at least 7-8 plane departures a day. And it is. In many ways. So travelers either plan a visit 2-3 months in advance, or last minute for a weekend. And now there is a trend to visit even once a month.
We asked Mr. Nikola Nakio, general manager of travel agency Travelgate, who has been working in the travel industry for more than 30 years, to tell us the reasons.
“The culture of the Romans is the same as ours, so in this city, we feel at home. The people are particularly kind. Even if they don’t speak English, they will do everything they can to help you and make you understand.”
