Murder in Agrinio: Evidence points to premeditated murder of Dora

The police are listening to the 30-year-old's claims with caution, as they believe he is trying to create the impression that he acted in a fit of rage

Newsroom November 13 07:46

Police officers are skeptical of the claims made by the 30-year-old perpetrator, as they believe he is trying to portray the crime as a momentary act of passion. However, evidence suggests that the murder of 43-year-old Dora in Agrinio was premeditated.

The suspect reportedly claimed during police questioning that they had argued inside the car, which led him to lose his temper, pull out a gun, and shoot her at close range. According to well-informed sources, the perpetrator was in a highly agitated state when making this statement. Despite his claims, the authorities suspect he is attempting to give the impression that he acted impulsively rather than with premeditation, as there are indications pointing towards a planned crime.

The Sequence of Events Leading to the Murder

Sources familiar with the case have revealed that the perpetrator approached the victim armed with a gun, even though his firearms had been confiscated by the authorities a few months earlier following a domestic violence complaint filed by the victim. Despite this, the 30-year-old traveled to Athens, obtained a new weapon from the black market, and returned to Agrinio, indicating intent and preparation.

On the day of the murder, the suspect waited for Dora to arrive at the agreed-upon location. When she parked her car, he surprised her by entering through the passenger door, leading to the fatal encounter. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the two had arranged to meet that day because Dora believed she could convince him to leave her alone.

Inability to Accept Separation and Continued Threats

The perpetrator seemed unable to accept the end of their relationship. Despite Dora’s repeated attempts to explain that their paths had diverged for good, he continued to threaten her. These threats persisted even as his trial for domestic violence was scheduled to take place on Friday, November 15.

Aftermath of the Crime

Following the murder, the suspect abandoned his car and wandered around, eventually reaching the area of Myrtia, where he was apprehended on the morning of Tuesday, November 12. During his arrest, the police found a revolver, bullets, and a knife in his possession, further supporting the view that the attack was premeditated and meticulously planned.

OPKE forces approached the warehouse. Each time the suspect sensed the police getting closer, he would put the gun to his temple. The negotiator managed to calm him down, and eventually, his sister entered the warehouse. She hugged him, held his hands, and that’s when he released the weapon. At that moment, the police entered the warehouse, restrained him, and placed him in handcuffs.
