"Finally, there must be limits to the spread of falsehoods, and X should function as a space of both freedom and respect," stated the Minister of State

Minister of State Akis Skertsos filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Division over posts from anonymous Twitter accounts that falsely presented statements attributed to him criticizing Antonis Samaras.

“I have just filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Division for spreading fake news and defamation by anonymous accounts. The matter is now in the hands of the judiciary. It is time to set limits on the spread of falsehoods, and for X (formerly known as Twitter) to function as a space for freedom but also for respect,” stated Akis Skertsos in his post.

In an earlier post, Mr. Skertsos had denied the statements allegedly made against Antonis Samaras, asserting, “Posts circulating from anonymous accounts attributing supposed statements by me against Mr. Samaras are false and have never been made, either publicly or privately. I reserve the right to appeal to the Cyber Crime Division of the Hellenic Police against these slanderers. As for the head of the Press Office of the former prime minister and his claims about me, I would like to say that, as far as I know, he represents Mr. Samaras and not me. His claims about me are entirely unfounded.”
