Crete: Reversal in the case of attempted homicide in Axos Mylopotamos – Families reconciled

"There has been a complete decompression of the relations between them, the earlier misunderstandings between the families have been fully restored," said George Kokosalis, the prosecution's support lawyer

Newsroom December 2 06:09

A twist of facts has emerged in the attempted homicide trial of a 57-year-old man from Axo Milopotamos against a fellow resident, which began today, Monday, December 2, in the morning at the Chania Mixed Jury Court.

It will be recalled that a 50-year-old man was seriously injured in this incident, and more lightly an employee of the victim’s shop was injured. The 57-year-old perpetrator who had surrendered had been taken into custody by the prosecutor and the investigator of Rethymnon.

As the flashnews.gr website reports, that the trial was adjourned for Friday, December 6, because the prosecution defense attorney requested a few days to further study the case file.

However, the reversal came from the side of the prosecution support lawyer who stated before the judges that a “reconciliation” between the two families had been reached and that his clients – victims of the incident – did not want the defendant to be prosecuted.

“The accused has shown moral and emotional support for the victim”

Speaking to the same news outlet, the prosecution support lawyer, Giorgos Kokosalis, said the following: “The truth is that developments are ahead of the courtrooms. A complete decompression of the relations between the families has taken place, and the earlier misunderstandings between the families have been fully restored.”
The truth is that the truth is that the court cases are in court.

George Kokosalis, lawyer

He continued, “The accused has shown in practice moral and mental support for the suffering of the sufferer as he suffered with his health. My clients believe that in reconstructing the incident, he in no way intended to deprive the subject of life although he had the time and the means to do so; it was a misunderstanding that went beyond the bounds of propriety, the court will judge that, but it was certainly not attempted murder and will be proved in court.”

Referring to what will be followed in court next Friday (6/12), Kokosalis said: “On the part of the victims at least, the statement of appearance in support of the charge will be repeated only to make the necessary statements, as was done informally today. We will resign from class support afterward. We believe that this facilitates the process. On the part of the plaintiffs ,there will be all the goodwill and decompression for a favorable outcome for all parties. Let us not forget that they are family and friends who have been living together in a small square for many years.”

Mitsotakis: “Farmers will receive every euro they are entitled to — Solutions come through dialogue, not roadblocks”

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis assured farmers that all payments owed to them will be delivered in full, emphasizing that while agricultural workers have every right to demand more support, “extreme forms of protest, such as roadblocks, may exert pressure but ultimately disrupt daily life and do not help us move forward faster”
