In the meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister and the German Vice Chancellor in Berlin, Mr. Evangelos Venizelos asked for the support of Merkel’s party SPD, in order for the two month extension to be approved before Charismas.

At the same time Mr. Venizelos also asked for  Mr. Sigmar Gabriel’s help on the transition of Greece after the Memorandum  with the approval by the German Bundestag and the request for granting precautionary credit line.

The meeting agenda also included the real economy of Greece, the bilateral cooperation, the investment opportunities and the need to create jobs.

Following the meeting Mr. Evangelos Venizelos stressed that today’s meeting with Sigmar Gabriel and yesterday’s meeting with Wolfgang Schaeuble as well, confirmed in the clearest way the decision of the Eurogroup, which sends a very positive message to Greece, a message that we must follow towards our exit from the Memorandum and towards turning a new page”.
