The bad weather is receding – 2025 will start with double the temperature

The bad weather is in remission with snowfall now limited in the mountains of Evia and Crete - The forecast of EMY until 2 January 2025

Newsroom December 28 11:05

The wave of bad weather that hit the country is receding and shifting eastward across the country, according to the EMS forecast. Snowfall occurred in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of the country, while temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days. According to EMY’s first forecast for New Year’s Day, weather will be generally clear, while Thodoris Kolydas said 2025 will “kick off” with almost double the current temperature.

Of course, the forecast is that the climate will be much more similar to the current day than it is today.

The bad weather is on the wane with snowfall now limited to the mountains of Evia and Crete. On Saturday, areas of Attica, Evia, Lesbos, Lesvos, Pelion, Boeotia, Corinthia and Crete were dressed in white. Many people in Attica and in winter destinations enjoyed the scenery while the ski resorts were full of people.

The weather will show improvement from Sunday with snowfall limited to the mountains of Crete. According to EMY, there is a possibility of light snowfall in the morning hours in the mountains of Evia and eastern Central Greece.

In eastern Thessaly, the Sporades, central and eastern Sterea, eastern Peloponnese, the eastern Aegean islands, the Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese, there will be partly cloudy conditions with local rain or sleet and isolated thunderstorms in the sea and coastal areas. The phenomena will be limited in the Aegean Sea from the afternoon.

In the rest of the country the weather will be generally clear with a few occasional local clouds.

The EMY forecast for Sunday, December 29:

Weather: clouds, partly cloudy with local rain mainly in the east and north. Possibility of light snowfall in the morning hours in the northern mountains. Improvement of the weather from the afternoon.
Winds: From the north 4 to 6 Beaufort, in the east occasionally up to 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 04 to 11 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Monday 30 December

The weather will be generally clear in most of the country and only in the east (mainly in the Aegean) will there be local clouds. Showers are expected in Crete until the afternoon (with light snowfall in the mountains) and in the Cyclades until the morning hours. Visibility in the morning and evening hours in the west, central and northern areas will be locally limited.

Winds in the west, central and north will be variable 3 to 4 Beaufort. In the remaining areas, winds will be north 4 to 6 Beaufort, and in the central and southern Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort, with gradual weakening.

The temperature will rise slightly, but in the continental areas in the morning hours there will be frost in places. It will reach 09 to 11 degrees Celsius in the north, 12 to 14 degrees Celsius in the eastern mainland and the Aegean and 15 to 16 degrees Celsius in the western part of the country.

The weather on Tuesday 31 December

General clear weather, with local clouds in Crete in the morning hours. Visibility in the morning and evening hours will be locally limited. Winds will be variable 2 to 4 Beaufort and only in the Aegean Sea will blow north 4 to 5 in the morning hours, locally 6 Beaufort. The temperature will rise further, but in the northern mainland in the morning hours there will be frost in places.
