A joint trip to Washington shortly after United States President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in on January 20 is planned by the foreign ministers of France, Germany and Poland, three European Union diplomats told Politico.

The trip is still in the planning stage and no date has been set.

German Foreign Minister Analena Baerbock, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot and Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski could be accompanied by European diplomacy chief Kaya Callas, according to the same sources.

EU leaders have expressed a willingness to work with the Trump administration, but are also wary of moves such as trade tariffs or his threat to annex Greenland, an autonomous region of the Kingdom of Denmark.
