The weather will change over the weekend Sunday through Monday (Jan. 13) with showers and heavy thunderstorms and temperatures dropping to normal for the season.
Specifically, according to the director of the National Weather Service, Thodoros Kolydas, on Sunday and Monday in western, central and northern Greece, rain and thunderstorms are expected locally strong, mainly in the northwest, while snow this weekend will fall in the mountainous mainland and in the semi-mountainous areas of central and northern Greece. In fact, in northern Greece from Sunday night and Monday, snow will also fall in lower altitude areas.
The temperature over the weekend will drop by a total of 8 to 10 degrees in the central and northern regions and by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in the rest of the region, returning to normal levels for the season.

Clouds are partly cloudy and increasing in most of the country. Showers will occur in the Ionian Sea, the western and northern mainland, the eastern Aegean islands, the Dodecanese and possibly in the Cyclades and Crete. Light snowfall will occur from midday in the mountains of Macedonia and Thrace. Visibility in the morning and evening hours will be locally limited, mainly on the mainland, and fog will form in places.
Winds will be westerly southwesterly 4 to 6 Beaufort and only in the northeast northeasterly north northeasterly with the same intensity.
