Within the week it is expected to start the applications for the “Upgrade my House 2” program, which will provide a personal loan of up to 25,000 euros to beneficiaries, without income criteria, to upgrade their home or holiday home.
The target is energy upgrading, with the loan starting at 5,000 and going up to 25.000 euros its main characteristics is that it is interest-free, in addition, has no income, property, or age criteria, it concerns both first and secondary residence, which differentiates it from other similar energy upgrade programs, the repayment can be made from 3 to 7 years (so if someone receives the maximum amount eligible for a 7-year loan, the monthly payment does not even exceed 300 euros).
It is worth noting, however, that if someone has joined another energy upgrade program, such as ExoEconomy, he/she cannot benefit from this interest-free loan program at the same time.
The program, which provides for the granting of low-interest loans, aims to improve the energy efficiency of homes throughout Greece, providing an important tool for upgrading the building stock.
Expenditures covered through the program include work such as thermal insulation, installation of green roofs, replacement of windows and window frames, installation of solar panels and heating and cooling systems, as well as the installation of photovoltaic stations or small wind turbines. Those interested are not subject to income or age restrictions, and the ministry estimates that about 20,000 citizens will benefit.
The program is being financed with 400 million euros, from the resources of the Recovery Fund (300 million euros) and banks (100 million euros), with a full interest rate subsidy. Unlike ExoGeo, the new program is more flexible, allowing for point improvements, such as the purchase of air conditioners, without the obligation of a total energy upgrade.
