With a special ceremony the NATO force in Afghanistan (ISAF) will leave today, marking the end of 13 years of fighting in the country which is still plagued by violent armed action by Taliban.
NATO did not disclose details of the ceremony that will take place due to the threat of armed attacks by the Taliban, who have set their sights on the Afghan capital several times in recent years.
On the 1st of January the mission “Firm support” for assistance and training of the Afghan army will succeed the mission of combat troops of ISAF, which has lost 3.485 soldiers since 2001.
