The gun used to fire on PASOK’s headquarters in Harilaou Trikoupi Street has never before been used in any terrorist attack, police said on Sunday evening.
According to the findings of the ballistics investigation so far, the two bullets fired at PASOK’s offices between Saturday night and Sunday morning were of the same calibre as those used in Kalashnikov rifles, or 7.62 mm.
The bullets were fired from Mavromichali street, at the rear of the building, and two bullets went through windows on the second and third floor to lodge themselves in a wall and a plaster wall in the building.
The counter-terrorism service investigation is continuing. However, they suspect the team of the terrorist Nikos Maziotis who is still wanted by the police. Also, the terrorist organization 17 November had fired a rocket against the offices of PASOK from the same spot on March 31, 1999.
The 43-year-old leader of the terrorist organization, Revolutionary Struggle, usually copies the attacks made by 17 November organisation. Hellenic Police officers are concerned, not about the attack itself (they were waiting an attack until the day of elections) , but about the fact that the terrorists knew so many details, they hit again under the nose of the police and are now able to make frequent risky attacks.
PASOK released a statement on the attack
“PASOK is not afraid and is not bullied,” the party said in a statement on Sunday following the attack at its offices.
PASOK said that they react “with the rallying and the determination of the democratic society categorically condemning every criminal terrorist act.”
“We demand the same from all political and social forces. Not only will we not allow it to be undermined, but we will preserve by all means the democratic normality in our country,” the statement added.
