European People’s Party will lead for another five years after its victory in the European elections. The Christian Democrats will be represented in the European Parliament by 212 members out of 766 members in total.

After this victory Jean -Claude Juncker believes that he will be the next president of the European Commission, replacing José Barroso.

However, the Socialists (S & D) and their candidate, Martin Schulz, want to take advantage of The Lisbon Treaty, as the lead of EPP does not mean that they will select the president.

Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe and Guy Verhofstadt came third. ALDE will be represented by 70 members in the European Parliament .

The Greens/European Free Alliance with Ska Keller follows in fourth place and they will be represented by 55 MEPs, while European Conservatives and Reformists will have 44 members.

European United Left/Nordic Green Left with Alexis Tsipra came 6th and will be represented by 43 members.

There are about 38 unregistered members, members who are not related to any political group, while the newly elected persons who do not belong to a political group of the outbound Parliament are 67.

Finally, Europe of freedom and democracy will be represented by 36 members in the European Parliament.

It is worth mentioning that the new President of the European Commission might not be one of the candidates as there are loopholes allowing the choice of president to be done using another way.
