“A change of scenery but not a government toppling”. This is what European partners see regarding the outcome of the European elections in Greece, who talking to europarltv.eu refer to SYRIZA’s victory but they stress that there is no immediate issue on political stability of Greece nor a possibility of early elections.
SYRIZA’s victory is mentioned in all European networks and Brussels, too since it is considered to be a new element in an a EU that tilts to the side of the Christian Democrats and to the right-wing Eurosceptics. “SYRIZA brings something new but still not something clear” representatives of the EU in Greece said whereas Mr. Panos Karvounis said that “there is no issue on the stability of Greece,”.
Also, they emphasizes that they do not expect any attacks by foreign rating agencies, but the issues that will be posed are going to be different and related to the operation and the new terms of the bipartisan Greek government.
On the other hand, representatives in Athens fear that the bipartisan government after its defeat will face difficulties in processing the reforms announced and in particular addressing major issues, such as insurance or employment.
“It is clear that Greece enters a new phase, more sensitive as it appeared that the citizens are not willing to undergo further cuts and sacrifices” foreign media reported covering the developments from the office of the European Parliament.
Also, it is indicated that possible changes and additions to the economic ministries of bipartisan government will mark a shift in another policy-mix aiming to mild relief of hard tax measures.
