European Foreign Ministers called for an alliance with Muslim countries’ governments in order to combat Islamist fanaticism and the danger of terrorism.
The EU’s head of Foreign Policy Federica Mogherini met with the head of the Arab League, Nabil Elaraby, aiming to better coordinate actions to be undertaken after the recent attacks in Paris. Federica Mogherini stated that three programs of Brussels’ cooperation will take place with Turkey, Egypt, Yemen, Algeria, and other Persian Gulf countries.
Regarding cooperation with the Arab world, Mogherini stressed that the European Union needs more people specializing in the Arabic language. “I want to improve our communication with the Arab-speaking world both within, and without the European Union. We must be able to speak Arabic, write in Arabic and listen to the messages coming from the Arab world”.
Security personnel accompanying European officials must also familiarize themselves with the Arabic alphabet.
