Lawyer Adamantia Aggeletou testified today before the investigating magistrates for corruption, over her alleged involvement in a huge prison-run extortion ring that was recently dismantled by the Greek police.

According to the testimony of the cousin of one of the alleged ringleaders of the organization, notorious convict Panagiotis Vlastos, Mrs. Aggeletou was involved in the criminal activities of the extortion ring and she also had an affair with Mr. Vlastos.

However, in her testimony today, the lawyer categorically denied ever having an erotic relationship with the jailed felon and she claimed that Vlastos’ cousin Evangelia only implicated her in the case out of spite, because she refused to represent her in court in the past.

It is reminded that Evangelia, a former member of Vlastos’ gang, who collected the money from the ring’s extortions and also participated in many bomb attacks by procuring and preparing the explosives, decided to turn informant when she realized that her cousin wanted her dead.

Her testimonies sparked a huge probe that led to the dismantling of the largest criminal organization that has ever operated in Greece.
