Pakistan violated a ceasefire agreed earlier Saturday with India after four days of confrontation on the border between the two countries, a source close to India‘s government told AFP.
Repeated powerful explosions were heard early Saturday evening (afternoon in Greece) in Srinagar, the largest city in Indian Kashmir, and electricity was cut off, reporters said.
Indian Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed the incident. “What the hell happened to the ceasefire? Explosions can be heard all over Srinagar,” he wrote in a post on his platform X.
Officially, neither country has commented on the reports.
Deliberate power outages in the region have been common in recent days, Western media reports said.
Earlier today, Reuters reported that residents in India’s Jammu city faced attacks by drones hours after a ceasefire was announced.
According to eyewitnesses, explosions can be heard and missiles have been seen in the sky.
