Germany‘s willingness to “continue and expand” military support to Ukraine was announced by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who today received Ukrainian President Bolodymyr Zelenski at the Chancellery.
Merz even said that an agreement, to be signed by the defense ministers of the two countries, on long-range weapon systems manufactured in Ukraine will be reached within the day.
According to the German chancellor, with these weapons systems the Ukrainian armed forces will be able to strike military targets within Russian territory without restrictions.
Responding to a question specifically about the Taurus missiles, the chancellor said that Berlin wants to equip Ukraine with every capability that will enable it to defend itself against Russian aggression, but reiterated that “these issues will not be discussed publicly” and limited himself to stating that talks between Germany and Ukraine will be intensified in the near future.
