The weather forecast for the Holy Spirit weekend - Greek seas 2 to 3 degrees warmer than the normal temperatures for the season

The temperature has risen sharply across Greece over the past two days, with mercury topping 36 degrees Celsius today. The weather is perfect for swimming while seas across the country are warm, with the warm invasion continuing over the next few days.

Temperatures on Thursday topped 36 degrees Celsius in four areas. today was the first day in 2025 that the mercury exceeded 35 degrees Celsius.

The areas with the highest temperatures on Thursday:

  1. Kranidi 36.6 degrees Celsius
  2. Karditsa – City: 36.1 degrees Celsius
  3. Carditsa – City: 36.1 degrees Celsius
  4. Charokopeio – Kallithea: 36.1 degrees Celsius
  5. Kalambaka: 36 degrees Celsius
  6. Agii Theodoroi, Corinthia: 35.9 degrees Celsius
  7. Didima of Argolida: 35.8 degrees Celsius
  8. Stylida, Fthiotida: 35.8 degrees Celsius
  9. Xylokeriza, Corinth: 35.8 degrees Celsius

There were 4,648 lightning strikes on land and one at sea on Thursday.

Warm seas

The relatively high temperatures in the first days of June 2025, combined with the absence of strong winds, caused a rise in the surface temperature of the Greek seas.

The weather on Friday

The weather will be generally clear on Friday, but clouds will gradually develop from midday in places on the mainland. Local rain and sporadic thunderstorms will occur in Macedonia and the rest of the continental highlands.

Winds will blow north-northwest 3 to 5 and in the Aegean Sea locally 6 Beaufort. The temperature will not change significantly. It will reach 31 to 33 degrees Celsius on the islands and 34 to 35 and in some places 36 degrees Celsius on the mainland.

The EMY forecast:

Winds: From the north 4 to 5 Beaufort from the north.
Temperature: From 20 to 35 degrees Celsius. In the east the maximum will be 2 to 4 degrees lower.

The weather on the Holy Spirit weekend

On Saturday, June 7, the weather will be generally clear and a few occasional clouds will occur in the midday – afternoon hours when local rain will occur in the mountains. Winds will blow northwest 3 to 5 and in the Aegean Sea locally 6 Beaufort. The temperature will not change significantly. It will reach 30 to 33 degrees Celsius on the islands and 34 to 35 degrees Celsius on the mainland and 36 to 37 degrees Celsius in some places in the interior.

On Sunday, June 8, the weather will be generally clear with a few local clouds in the continental highlands in the midday – afternoon hours. The winds will blow north-northwest 3 to 5 and in the Aegean Sea locally 6 Beaufort. The temperature will rise slightly mainly in the west and will remain high for the season.

On Monday, June 9, Holy Spirit, the weather will be generally clear. The winds will blow northwest 3 to 5 and in the Aegean Sea locally 6 Beaufort. The temperature will rise slightly further in the east.
