The Be My Eyes application is aimed at making life easier for the blind by connecting them with sighted helpers. Basically, the video app works through direct video calls from blind people to sighted volunteers who can help them in everyday tasks that require vision, such as choosing the right tin can from a shelf or seeing if a carton of milk has expired. The blind person “borrows” the volunteer’s eyes from a large network of volunteers.
the idea came about when Hans Jorgen Wiberg, visually impaired himself, came up with the idea and presented it at a Startup weekend.
People can either volunteer to become part of the network or can also translate the application to more languages.
