An unbelievable incident occurred early Sunday morning in Thessaloniki, with an infant just 11 months old spotted alone on an apartment balcony while his parents slept undisturbed inside the house.

The incident was revealed during a police patrol in the city centre when they heard the infant crying and were surprised to see him alone on the fourth-floor balcony. The balcony doors of the apartment were closed, while the two parents were sleeping inside with their other three children.

Police officers of the Crime Investigation and Detection Department proceeded with the arrest of the 36-year-old father and the 35-year-old mother, Bulgarian nationals, against whom a case was filed for the offence of exposing a minor to danger.

According to reports, the parents claimed they left the baby on the balcony “to cool off.”

Early yesterday morning (16-06-2025), police officers of the White Tower Police Station, as part of their patrol for the policing of the city center, found an infant crying, lying inside a stroller on the balcony of an apartment, while the parents and their other three children were sleeping inside the house with the balcony doors closed. The two foreign parents, aged 36 (male) and 35 (female) were arrested, against whom police officers of the Crime Investigation and Detection Department formed a case file for the offence of Exposure.
