Increased political uncertainty in several rival destinations, including Greece, may benefit tourism in Croatia, Croatian Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin said in an interview.

Lorencin said early bookings for the 2015 summer season are on the rise and attributed this trend to the political and economic troubles of countries such as Greece, Egypt and Turkey.

With regard to Greece, the Croatian minister said new PM Alexis Tsipras had promised before the elections to curb “all-inclusive tourism”, as SYRIZA maintained that this concept kept holiday-makers coralled in resorts and away from local businesses.

According to official forecasts, Croatia’s revenue from tourism may exceed 7 billion euros in 2015.
