Bloomberg: Erdogan to meet with Trump at NATO Summit

The meeting is described by diplomatic circles as an attempt to “reset” bilateral relations

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to have a private meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.

According to Bloomberg, the meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday evening in The Hague, with sources speaking on condition of anonymity as the consultations are being held behind closed doors. There has been no immediate comment from the U.S. side.

Diplomatic circles describe the meeting as an attempt to “reset” bilateral relations, which have been strained in recent years by a series of disputes, including issues surrounding Syria, Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400 missile systems, and Ankara’s removal from the F-35 program.

The timing of the meeting is seen as particularly significant, as it takes place during a period of broader geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with Donald Trump seeking a full de-escalation of military conflicts with Iran.
