Weather: Strong northerly winds today & the temperature up to 37 degrees – New heatwave from next week

Greece is also on alert today as a significant strengthening of the wind chill is expected, with gusts of up to 7 Beaufort. From Friday, winds will weaken slightly, dropping to 5 to 6 Beaufort. Due to the prevailing weather conditions, there is an increased risk of fire.

From Friday the temperature will start to rise and in the new week, a heat wave – heat wave, typical for the season of moderate intensity, will begin, exiting after Thursday, according to meteorologists.

The weather today

Across the country there will be very good weather conditions and locally unseasonably warm temperatures. During the warmer hours of the day, clouds will develop in the continental highlands and local rain may occur in Pindos.

The temperature will range in Western Macedonia from 15 to 32 degrees, in the rest of Macedonia and Thrace from 17 to 34-36 degrees, in Thessaly from 18 to 35-37 degrees, in Western Greece from 22 to 36-37, in the rest of the mainland from 21 to 34-36 degrees, in the Ionian Islands from 20 to 32-34 degrees, in the Aegean islands and Crete from 21 to 30-32 degrees, while in the Dodecanese and the East Aegean islands and the maximum temperatures will reach 34 and 36 degrees respectively.

Winds in the Aegean will blow from the north with intensities up to 4 Beaufort in the northern seas and 5-6 Beaufort in the southern seas. In southern Crete the winds will reach 7 Beaufort in some places. In the Ionian Sea, winds will blow mainly from the west with intensities of 3-4 Beaufort.

In Attica we expect sunshine. The winds will blow northeast with intensities of 4-5 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 27 to 34 degrees.

In Thessaloniki we expect a few clouds during the warm hours of the day. The winds will blow mainly from southern directions with intensities of 2-3 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Friday, July 4

Generally clear weather. Local clouds in the northwestern mountains in the midday – afternoon hours.

Winds will blow from northern directions 3 to 4, in the Ionian Sea occasionally 5, in the east 4 to 6 and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will rise slightly. It will reach 33 to 35 degrees Celsius in the Ionian Sea, the mainland and southern Crete, locally in the mainland 37 to 38, in the Cyclades 27 to 29 degrees, while in the rest of the island country it will not exceed 31 to 33 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Saturday, July 5

Generally clear weather. Local clouds in the northern mountainous areas in the midday – afternoon hours, when occasional rain showers may occur.

The winds in the west will be variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, while in the afternoon – evening hours the winds will blow from the west northwest with the same intensity. In the east the winds will blow from the north at 4 to 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will rise slightly further.

The weather on Sunday, June 6

Generally clear weather. Local clouds in the continental highlands in the midday – afternoon hours when in the northwestern mountains there will be occasional rain and possibly isolated thunderstorms.

The winds in the west will be variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, while in the afternoon – evening hours the winds will blow from the west northwest with the same intensity. In the east will blow from the north 4 to 5 and in the Aegean Sea locally up to 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly.
