“The idea is to work with stakeholders on both sides, as we have done in the past,” said Marcus Lamert, spokesman for Commission on immigration, on the Group of Europe’s plans and the decisions taken at the quadrilateral meeting in Rome.
Mr Lamert was asked at today’s press conference of European Commission on the decisions taken on migration and on a possible plan for meetings at Libya by the Europe Group, saying that “President von der Leyen and the leaders of Greece, Italy and Malta agreed to continue contacts with Libya and the G8 approach, including by re-sending the G8 delegation to Libya to continue the follow-upvisit“.
When asked if the meetings include Benghazi, in addition to Tripoli where contacts have already been held, he replied that the aim is “to contact both sides“.
