China’s foreign ministry stated on Wednesday that it has no knowledge of any loan offer made by Beijing to Greece, following relative statements by Greek government officials.
According to a Reuters report, Greece’s Alternate Minister for European Affairs Nikos Chountis claim, in a radio interview, that China may offer economic support to Greece, even though Athens has not requested it yet.
Moreover, Chountis also referred to an “aid offer” made by Russia, while Defence Minister Panos Kammenos said that if Athens failed to get a new financing agreement within the euro area, it could always seek help from other countries, including China.
However, China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that, although she had seen the reports, she knew nothing of the matter.
