Passengers erupted in applause when police officers handcuffed the defiant passenger

Newsroom September 26 08:07

A passenger on an EasyJet flight from Manchester to Corfu caused a disturbance on Wednesday, prompting the pilot to make an emergency landing in Milan so police officers could arrest and remove the “disturbed” man, as he was described.

In fact, in a video where the moment of the unidentified man’s removal has been recorded, the applause of the other passengers can be heard.

According to passenger accounts carried by the Daily Mail, shortly after take-off, a
flight attendant had to restrain the man who was “swaying back and forth” in his seat.

Along with the man, a woman who, according to passengers on the flight, had a bottle of vodka in her hands was taken off the plane.

Describing the commotion, a passenger on the plane told the British newspaper: “We were about halfway through the flight and there was a bit of a commotion at the back. The stewardess was spending a lot of time back there, to the point where she wasn’t leaving his side. The captain announced that they were going to make an emergency landing due to inappropriate behavior and that an incident had occurred. He was rocking back and forth. The flight attendant was holding him in place. The police came to Milan, and two officers tried to get him out of his seat, then he fell to the floor, and they dragged him. They tried to handcuff him, and he was holding on to the stairs as they came down.”
