Weather: Showers today in the eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese

Unsettled Weather Today – Gradual Improvement from Thursday

The weather will remain unsettled today, with showers continuing through the morning in the Cyclades and eastern Aegean islands. Temperatures will stay below seasonal averages. From Thursday, conditions are expected to gradually improve, accompanied by a slight rise in temperature.

Heaviest Rainfall Recorded in Kea

According to forecast data, the Aegean islands and northeastern parts of the mainland were most affected by the recent spell of bad weather up to 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7.
The map below (from the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr) shows the distribution of cumulative rainfall up to that time, along with the eight weather stations that recorded the highest precipitation levels.
The heaviest rainfall was recorded on the island of Kea, reaching 49.2 millimeters.

Today’s Forecast

Central, eastern, and northern mainland regions will see scattered showers, with heavier rainfall expected in Thrace, where isolated thunderstorms may also occur.
Showers and storms will also affect the Aegean islands and Crete, with locally intense phenomena expected in the Cyclades, eastern Aegean islands, and the Dodecanese.
Weather conditions will gradually improve from midday in most mainland areas, and from the afternoon in the Aegean islands.

  • Western Macedonia: 5–13°C

  • Rest of Macedonia & Thrace: 7–18°C

  • Thessaly: 8–21°C

  • Epirus: 7–19°C

  • Other mainland regions: 9–21°C

  • Ionian Islands: 10–20°C

  • Most Aegean islands: 12–19°C

  • Crete: 12–23°C

Winds:

  • Aegean Sea: Northwest 5–6 Beaufort, turning westerly in southern parts with similar strength.

  • Ionian Sea: Northwest 6–7 Beaufort.

Attica (Athens):
Partly cloudy with northwesterly winds at 3–5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 12–19°C.

Thessaloniki:
Cloudy with light showers until noon, improving later.
Northwesterly winds at 4–5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 10–16°C.

Generally clear with occasional cloudiness, denser in the west.
Winds: Northerly 3–5 Beaufort in the eastern Aegean, variable 3–4 Beaufort elsewhere.
Temperatures: Slight further rise.

Saturday, October 11:
Mostly clear, with some clouds developing over the mainland during midday and afternoon.
Winds: North to northwest 3–5 Beaufort, locally up to 6 Beaufort at sea.
Temperatures: Little change expected.
