Evan Fournier: “I want to finish my career with Olympiacos”

The French guard spoke about renewing his contract, his bond with Olympiacos fans, and the experience of facing Panathinaikos in the finals

Newsroom October 8 01:43

Evan Fournier told the French outlet TVMonaco that his decision to extend his contract with Olympiacos came from a deep desire to finish his career wearing the red and white.

The French guard admitted that the transition from the NBA to European basketball wasn’t easy, but said that the warm welcome he received in Piraeus helped him adapt quickly and find his rhythm as the season progressed.

“My decision to stay was based on the feeling that I’m in the right environment to close out my career,” he said. “My goal is to win titles — and I don’t intend to leave until that happens.”

Fournier made special mention of the Olympiacos fans, emphasizing the love and support he receives from them. Their energy and passion, he said, inspire him and push him to give his best on the court.

Speaking about the Basket League finals against Panathinaikos, Fournier described them as intense and high-pressure — both on and off the court. Winning the title, he added, was crucial for the team’s morale, as losing it would have made for a very difficult summer.
