A new video from the police operation targeting Roma members who made millions through frauds has emerged. Officers from the Special Anti-Crime Unit (OPKE) are seen breaking into homes armed with guns and shields

They were deceiving elderly victims by impersonating employees of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDIE), with their illicit profits exceeding €7 million. A major police operation was launched to arrest them.

A new video from the police operation regarding frauds against elderly people by members of a Roma organization, who managed to earn over €7 million, has come to light.

The footage shows heavily armed police officers arriving at the homes of the suspected Roma individuals. The officers approach the front doors and use battering rams to break them down and enter the houses.

They then conduct searches inside, and the video shows them discovering a makeshift greenhouse used for cannabis cultivation. Subsequently, arrests are made.

The operation to apprehend the suspects began yesterday morning in areas of Attica and Corinth. The Athens Security Sub-Directorate for Crime Investigation uncovered the fraud scheme.

The suspects allegedly presented themselves as employees of DEDDIE, accountants, or public officials, deceiving their victims to extract money and valuables.

So far, 40 people have been arrested, and their involvement has been linked to over 1,000 cases of fraud and theft. The estimated illegal profits exceed €7.6 million.
