Two Iraqis, members of the Islamic State group, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of terrorism, federal prosecutors said today.
According to the statement, Mutana S. was arrested in Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Kais S. in Delbrook, North Rhine-Westphalia, and is believed to have been active members of the “Islamic State” since 2016-2017, the former as a member of a Shariah committee and the latter as a militant.
Simultaneously with the arrests, searches were carried out in the apartments of both men and three other suspects in North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony and Lower Saxony.
