Improved weather today — where local showers are expected

The weather today, Sunday, will be mostly cloudy with local showers and thunderstorms in various parts of the country

Light snow is expected in the northern mountainous areas. Winds will blow from northern directions, strengthened over the seas. Temperatures will locally reach 19°C in Crete and the Dodecanese.

In Attica, temperatures will range between 10°C and 17°C, while in Thessaloniki they will range from 9°C to 15°C.

According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS), the weather this Sunday (7/12/2025) will be dull but improved compared to previous days and the passage of storm Byron. Local rainfall and thunderstorms will occur in several regions, with temperatures not exceeding 19°C.

HNMS Forecast

Cloud cover will be increased at times, with local showers. Scattered thunderstorms are expected mainly in the Sporades, Evia, the Cyclades, Crete, the eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese. Light snow may fall in the northern mountains.

Winds will blow from the north at 3–5 Beaufort and locally up to 6 Beaufort over the seas.
Temperatures will reach 12–16°C in central and northern Greece, 16–18°C elsewhere, and up to 19°C in Crete and the Dodecanese.

Weather in Attica and Thessaloniki

Attica

  • Weather: Increasing cloud cover at times with temporary local showers.
  • Winds: Northerly, 3–5 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: 10–17°C.

Thessaloniki

  • Weather: Increased cloudiness with temporary local showers, mainly in the morning.
  • Winds: North to northwest, 3–4 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: 9–15°C.

Weather in the rest of the country

Macedonia – Thrace

  • Weather: Increased clouds at times with local rain, mainly in western and central Macedonia. Isolated thunderstorms may occur, especially in coastal areas. Light snow in the mountainous regions.
  • Winds: Northerly 3–4 Beaufort; in the east, northeast winds up to 5–6 Beaufort in the morning.
  • Temperature: 6–16°C (4–5°C lower in western Macedonia).

Ionian Islands – Epirus – Western Central Greece – Western Peloponnese

  • Weather: Increased cloud cover at times with local rain and possibly isolated thunderstorms. Light snow in the mountains of Epirus.
  • Winds: Northerly 3–5 Beaufort, turning northwest up to 6 Beaufort in the north Ionian by afternoon.
  • Temperature: 8–18°C (4–5°C lower inland in Epirus).

Thessaly – Eastern Central Greece – Evia – Eastern Peloponnese

  • Weather: In the Sporades and Evia, increased cloudiness with rain and scattered thunderstorms, mainly in the morning. Elsewhere, clouds at times with local showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms.
  • Winds: Northerly 3–5 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: 8–18°C (2–3°C lower in the north).

Cyclades – Crete

  • Weather: Periods of increased cloudiness with local rain and scattered thunderstorms.
  • Winds: Northerly 3–5 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: 10–20°C.

Eastern Aegean Islands – Dodecanese

  • Weather: Increased cloudiness at times with local showers and scattered thunderstorms.
  • Winds: In the north, northeast winds 4–5 Beaufort and temporarily up to 6. In the south, variable winds 3–4 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: 12–20°C (2–3°C lower in the north).
