In support of the nationwide strike mobilization, which has been announced for tomorrow, 16 December 2025, by ADEDY “against the unpopular budget” and “expressing at the same time their solidarity with the struggles of the farmers”, OLME calls on its members to participate.
The participation of teachers in tomorrow’s mobilization will affect the operation of the school units. As is the case in similar situations, schools will be open while students are required to report for class, according to the Ministry of Education’s notification.
In high schools, if the teacher is on strike, the lesson will not be held, and students will have vacation time. School administrators are required to inform students and parents of any changes promptly.
In kindergartens and primary schools, if the teacher or kindergarten teacher is on strike, parents should be notified in time to prevent children from coming to school during the strike.
The statement of the OLME
“All and sundry in the all-public strike of the ADEDY on 16 December
The Board of the OLME informs that the reports and publications claiming that teachers are not participating in the strike of ADEDY on 16 December are false and unsubstantiated.
There is no decision of the OLME regarding the non-participation of teachers in the strike, as mentioned in these publications.
Teachers are normally participating in the all-public strike of ADEDY on December 16 as part of the collective decisions of the public sector trade union movement and the struggles in defense of labor, wage, and social rights.
Any claim to the contrary is inaccurate, misleading, and attempts to undermine mass participation in the strike.
We call on our colleagues to participate en masse in the strike and mobilizations on 16 December called by ADEDY against the unpopular budget, while expressing solidarity with the struggles of the farmers.”
