How the boat carrying the Greek Escobar’s cocaine was caught, the roles of the network, and the staggering €100 million profits

Those involved threw the drugs into the sea, where other vessels or divers recovered them

Newsroom December 17 02:36

“This is a very significant success,” said the Minister for Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, in his address at GADA (General Police Directorate of Attica) regarding the major case involving the dismantling of the operation of the so-called “Greek Escobar,” Alexandros Angelopoulos. In addition to the minister and the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Dimitris Mallios, the U.S. Ambassador, Kimberly Guilfoyle, was also present at the announcements.

Mr. Chrysochoidis spoke of “significant results that benefit societies and countries.”

“We will continue the war against criminals who form groups that engage in such illegal and abhorrent acts and behavior,” he noted, emphasizing that “we will be here to dismantle more criminal groups.”

She herself wished to be present at the presentation of the case concerning the dismantling of the ring that transported enormous quantities of cocaine from Latin America to Europe. This marks her first appearance at the General Police Directorate of Attica, where she will also listen to the senior officers of the Greek FBI explain all the details of how they arrested the “Greek Escobar” and his associates.

For the dismantling of the ring, the Hellenic Police cooperated with the DEA of the U.S. Embassy in Athens. Thus, the ambassador’s presence is not merely symbolic but is also seen as a message to the cartels being pursued by the U.S. government.
