Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is meeting on Monday afternoon with the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. He will then travel to Jerusalem to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ahead of the trilateral summit between Greece, Cyprus, and Israel.
The visit is part of Greece’s longstanding strategy of acting as a reliable and constructive interlocutor in the region. The Greek prime minister is expected to reaffirm Greece’s consistent position in favor of a political resolution to the Palestinian issue and support for the two-state solution.
Greece has also expressed its readiness to contribute to the post-conflict phase in Gaza, both at the humanitarian level and through reconstruction efforts, as well as by examining possible participation in an international stabilization force. This stance underscores Greece’s active role in promoting conditions of peace and security in the region.
