In western and northern regions, the weather on New Year’s Day will generally be clear, with temporarily increased cloud cover until the early morning hours in eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as well as in the eastern parts of Halkidiki, bringing sleet and, locally in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas as well as in lower-altitude areas (indicatively 300–350 meters), light snowfall, followed by rapid improvement.
In the rest of the country, there will be a few clouds, locally increased, with local rain, sleet in the northernmost areas, and temporary snowfall in mountainous areas as well as in central and northern semi-mountainous regions. After midday, phenomena will cease in most areas, continuing only in Crete until the evening.
Winds will blow from northern directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort, 6 Beaufort over the seas and locally up to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean, gradually weakening from the afternoon in western, central, and northern regions.
Temperatures will drop slightly further, mainly in the south, and remain at low levels nationwide. They will not exceed 5–6°C in the north, 7–10°C in eastern mainland areas, and 11–13°C in the rest of the country, locally reaching 14°C in southern Crete and the Dodecanese. Frost will occur in the morning and evening hours on the mainland, locally strong in northern areas.

Weather on Friday, January 2
Initially almost clear across most of the country, with local cloud cover that will quickly increase in western regions. From midday, local rain will occur in the northern Ionian and Epirus, with scattered thunderstorms in the Ionian. In the evening, phenomena will spread to other western areas.
Snowfall will occur from the afternoon in the mountainous areas of Epirus and at night in the mountains of Central Greece and temporarily in the mountains of the Peloponnese.
Winds will be southerly to southwesterly 3–5 Beaufort, and in southeastern areas westerly to northwesterly of the same intensity. From midday in the Ionian and gradually locally in the Aegean, winds will strengthen to 5–6 Beaufort, further increasing at night.
Temperatures will rise, mainly in maximum values, though frost will again occur early in the morning on the mainland. They will reach 8–10°C in the north, 11–14°C in eastern mainland areas, and 15–16°C elsewhere.
Weather on Saturday, January 3
Rain and scattered thunderstorms in western regions. Elsewhere, temporarily increased cloud cover with local rain mainly in the eastern Aegean, Thrace, and eastern Peloponnese, where isolated thunderstorms may also occur. Temporary snowfall will occur in western mainland mountainous areas during the morning.
Winds will be southerly to southwesterly 5–6 Beaufort, 7 Beaufort over the seas and locally up to 8 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures will rise further.

Snow on New Year’s Eve
Weather conditions on New Year’s Eve were distinctly wintry. In Attica, sleet and some snow fell in places, though phenomena were not intense. Snow fell in Ippokrateios Politeia, Kapandriti, and on Mount Parnitha, where traffic was halted from the level of the cable car.
