Far-right Golden Dawn MP Dimitris Koukoutsis was released on Friday afternoon with conditions, after testifying before the examining magistrates assigned with the party’s court case.
Koukoutsis, who along with other (detained) deputies is facing charges of participating in a criminal organisation, testified for roughly 8 hours.
After the long testimony, the examining magistrates and the prosecutor decided to place him under house arrest, an unprecedented condition for an active MP.
According to the decision, Koukoutsis, who is banned from exiting the country, will be under 24-hour police guard and will be allowed to leave his house only to go to the Parliament and to a hospital to undergo treatment for his health issues.
The decision was based on the serious health problems of the defendant and the fact that the terms set are capable of preventing him from committing more crimes.
