The Spanish royal family issued a statement to the media confirming that King Felipe VI’s aunt died at 11:40 this morning in Madrid.

In recent days, her health had deteriorated, prompting Queen Sofía to postpone all her scheduled public engagements in order to remain constantly by her side.

“The Communications Office of the Royal Household will provide information on the ceremonies to be organized for her funeral in Spain and the transfer of her remains to Greece for burial at Tatoi,” the statement said, according to El País.

Her last public appearance was on February 7, 2025, in Athens, at the wedding of her nephew, Nikolaos de Grèce, to Chrysi Vardinogianni.
