Yanis Varoufakis spoke with US officials during his weekend visit to Washington D.C. and announced that the Obama administration is ready to become an “honest broker” between Athens and the (EC-ECB-IMF) Institutions. The finance ministry also said the IMF is flexible towards validating the Varoufakis proposed reforms, however, the organization will not budge on the issue of a timely repayment of instalments owed to it by Athens.

According to a ministry announcement, the meeting with IMF Chief Christine Lagarde was very positive, without any form of IMF demands nor a hint of a “harsh stance”.
